They just keep it coming over at PT. They keep handing me all this ammunition on a silver platter.
Check out the “quiz” that Raisin-Stupid-Berry has written to see how much of a fog a consultant is in. She even encourages Corporate to use it! It has all kinds of questions about activities or thoughts that might be seen or experienced in Mary Kay. I thought, “Okay, I’ll take the stupid quiz.” I am moving right along with all “No” (zero points), then I had one “Yes” (2 points), then back to the “No” answers and….what’s this? Suddenly a “No” is worth a point? Oh well, okay, add the point. I answered a couple of more with “No” (that were also worth a point) and then I started skimming. I got to the results portion and was informed that a score over 8 meant you were in the fog, the higher the number after 8, the more dense the fog.
So…..I went back and counted all the questions that gave one point for a “No” answer. There were TEN.
And she accuses Mary Kay corporate, Mary Kay directors and NSDs of practicing manipulation?

Ok, so my interest was piqued. I, too, took the da*n quiz, and had a “14″.
But why the heck would Raisin-stupid-berry (LOVE that!!!) put “Questions that do not apply, score with zero”????? Ummm, it’s a YES or NO quiz–if it applies, you put yes, if it does NOT apply, you put no!! I swear this woman makes no sense–how she ever made it into directorship is beyond me.
I really got a kick out of #4, when it asks “You remember being excited about hearing that someone important was doing Mary Kay. A local newscaster, a lawyer, a celebrity”
Um, yeah–it’s an I-have-something-in-common-with-someone-BIG thing. I’m excited that Jordin Sparks is from Glendale. I’m excited that Michelle Branch is from Flagstaff. Dude, those two are from MY area!!!! Heck, if I see a pic of a celeb wearing a purple track suit that even REMOTELY looks like one that I have, I get excited! LOL
Or what about #10–”You recall that you felt doubts when the same ladies seemed to hit the top sales for the week, and wondered why “the honor” system was acceptable.”
What’s wrong with being happy for others? Especially since I KNEW them, they were my friends–and still are. I KNEW that they were selling (heck, I was WITH some of them when they handed out those business cards or had that $400 party!!!).
And why would I wonder why the “honor system” is acceptable? I know I’m definitely NOT naive, but if you don’t show a little trust in your fellow men/women, you become a bitter old bitch (in the female dog sense of the word) like TC (or my MIL) and no one wants to be around you because all you do is commisserate about how everyone is against you! LOL

I have been laughing to myself about this one all morning. As if we didn’t need more proof that Raisin-Stupid-Berry is DEFINITELY in a fog–a drunken or drugged fog, I’m thinking. It’s pretty hard to get less than 8 as a score when there are 10 points related to the answer “No”!!
I didn’t finish taking the quiz–I guess I should for the sake of what I am saying here. Be back later.

Okay, I’m back. I scored a 10. There was one that did not apply–it was #24 which was based on a yes answer to the question before it.
This time I read the responses. I saw one that was interesting. Here is a quote from it: “. . . packed it all up sent back 42,300 in retail back — that is how fogged over i was. I don’t miss the tiara’s the seminars. I am going to take a portion of the money i receive and for the first time take a real vacation . . .”
She must have made a lot of money in MK since she apparently had no debt and can afford to take a vacation with her 90% buyback money.
Or wait……perhaps she is just not a businesswomen IN or OUT of Mary Kay? Could that be it? Makes very bad financial decisions no matter WHAT the circumstances??

I was an 8, so apparently I am at the beginning of entering the fog. Hmm, a fog after a $600 week, which followed a $300 week, which followed a $253 week, which followed a $403 week, which followed a $278 week, which followed a $331 week . . . but apparently being a consultant isn’t working for me.
Hmm. So what then do I do with the cash I made?

AND IT JUST KEEPS ON COMING!!!!!!!!!
Love4mk, you said you got an 8. My first thought was that you must have had some “not applicable” answers which would be zero, since this morning it would have been impossible to get an 8. There were 10 questions that gave a “No” answer one point, which made it impossible to get an 8. Thus, my post showing that Tracy and Raisin-Stupid-Berry were manipulating the answers so that everyone came out to be in the fog.
So imagine my surprise just now when I went back over to check and there are no points alloted for “No” answers!!!
And they all say they don’t read over here………..

So that means I go down to a 4, now…
So now, basically, if you answer “Yes” to at least 4 out of 30 questions, you’re considered “Fogged”? Alrighty then…:}
But, in those questions that are “two-part” you are a “Yes” to one part, but a “no” to the other???
For example: #6: “You joined to make money & have fun, but w/in 6 months you found yourself in greater credit card debt than before.” Well, that would be a yes to the first part–when I joined, I joined to make money and have fun. No CC debt for me, though!
Or #12: “Your classes were generally longer than 2 hours (sometimes yes–the women were chatty & we were having fun), yet you allowed your “hourly” to be announced using that figure” (nope, if I was there for 3 hours, I put down 3 hours. If I was there for 1, I put down 1)
#14’s a good one: “You attend company events, getting the initial pop of enthusiasm (yes), but soon find yourself back where you started with the same obstacles (no). You became convinced that the “miracle” thing you needed to hear to change it all was going to be at the next event.” (no, I went b/c I thought the events were a lot of fun!)
#21 is fun: “You are aware of the amount of weeks that 300 or better sales never happened in your unit (I am aware that everyone has lean weeks), yet still pretended it was the “norm” or possible in your mind (nope, didn’t have to pretend–I’ve had plenty of $300 CLASSES–not just WEEKS, so have my friends. I KNEW it was possible!).
Look at #29: “You find yourself captivated and drawn in by the camaraderie and laughter and staging of Unit events (YES, our meetings were a lot of fun! So was Camp, and Career Conference–Seminar was a but much for me, though), believing the stories of the Directors (Sure, who am I to tell someone else that THEIR version of success is wrong–Tracy Coenen??? I don’t think so!) and wishing to be accepted among them (nope, I am fine as I am). Their fellowship is more important to you than your business’s profitability (nope, I was in it to make money!).
And #30 is a great one: “You actually think you have a business (yes, I did in MK, and I do w/ my current DS business–my accountant even says so!) and are unaware of all the ways in which you actually do not have a business.” (No, I’m not unaware. There is a difference between direct sales and having a brick and mortar retail business and/or a service business. All in all, if you can prove your INTENT is to make money–whether you actually do or not–then you ARE a business in the IRS’s eyes.)

I hope this doesn’t come across as mean spirited but… I am going to put in a comment from Raisin on one of her “leading” questions and then put my answer and my reasoning, what totally blows her theory!
{{In other words, the person who finds out a lawyer, celebrity, or famous person who joins Mk, makes the consultant excited because they welcome the validation, is a YES answer to Everyone. Only a person who is trying to be deceptive would answer No, as if it didnt matter. Being busted they get One point, because they are still in denial about what is really happening in MK and how they are processing it. How much they NEED for others to validate their own decision, Classic denial. }}
I answered “no”. Why - okay, I guess I am so deep in the fog, I am swimming in “da Nile”?? But no that isn’t it. I say no because personally I do not like it so much when in a small community someone “famous” joins and gets loads of attention. My reasoning, they may have greater success than a regular “joe” because they are wellknown and some people will purchase from them to “suck up” to them not because they want the product. Also someone “famous” is more than likely going to have a very large circle of acquaintances to tap into. (Not usually the case with the average “jane”. Another item is if someone is accustomed to the spotlight, they normally have a high level of confidence. All this said, a person from this lifestyle may have an easier time initially getting started and looking successful.
On the other foot, they may not really have the need to “do” Mary Kay and then can ruin it for others watching them. They are high profile type people and they are the exception to the rule and I don’t care for it when normal consultants put themselves down when comparing themselves to someone that might have many advantages from the start.
And if the famous one doesn’t make it in MK, it willl be said, ho, if so and so couldn’t make it work, how in the world am I?
Or well the famous one is succesful because she was so succesful before MK so that leaves me out.
So girlfriends, should I have answered yes or no?
Or does my explanation prove Raisinberry’s assumptions wrong??
And even though I do respect my National and many others for what they have acheived, I feel that they are people, they put their pantyhose on just like myself, one leg at a time, I do not worship them and so why should I act like a teenage girl with a crush if someone “popular” joins MK?

Re your score of 4 - it means you tell the truth!!! It also means they changed the scoring system as I pointed out earlier.
I agree with your feelings about the “popular” or “famous” person in Mary Kay. They, of course, have every right to become a consultant, but it does nothing to validate MY decision. And why should I care?
And I don’t even want to discuss Raisin-Stupid-Berry. She just annoys me. And didn’t she do her “last writing” about six writings ago???? See? She can’t even tell the truth about that.

my feeling is that raisin is projecting her own feelings onto everyone else. Just because she was star struck in that sort of circumstance, she believes everyone else is too. She assumes that one is lying if they say they dont get excited about someone “famous” joining this company.
I dont know anybody that is a “local celebrity” or anyone like that who does MK. But I do get excited when a high profile person “uses” MK. I remember seeing a photo of Queen Latifa with all MK products on. It said so in the article in the magazine that it was in. She looked great!
So is that the same thing?
It will be interesting to see if they change the scoring again to include that as well!

Ladies, once again Tracy is endorsing manipulation and lies. This morning there is a writing by Suzy Q that contains an email a director supposedly wrote. It’s a fake. How do I know? Because first of all, a director would NEVER send an email like to her unit! If the scenario was true (which I also do not believe) a director would word it in a completely different way. And the real clincher is when she says, in the “email” that she is sending out to inform her “unit” of her supposed reaction to the minerals, that she has heard from several people “since I sent this out”. What? Since she sent it out? Isn’t she just now sending it out? How can unit members respond to something they don’t have yet?
And yes, I have taken a screen shot so that when they change it after reading here, I will again have proof of the changes!
Isn’t it pathetic that they are resorting to obvious blatent lying now? Well, I suppose I should amend that to say “again” rather than “now”.

I was just going to email you Me. I saw that too. And I’m outraged. I seriously believe they (PTers) have nothing to bash MKC about right now (no outrages from CC, no “breaking news” from their moles, etc.) that they’re making things up! Of course, I think most stuff on PT is made up. Furthermore, I am seeing nothing but huge success with the mineral powders and would have heard from my clients by now if what is “reported” on PT is really happening. I think they’re calling it a “rumor” (in quotes on PT) because PT is starting the rumor.
You are right. No director would send out that email. MKC also would not basically tell a director (or consultant) to kiss off about a product issue, which seems to be what PT is claiming happened. When I have had product issues or my clients have, MKC has been nothing but the most helpful and gracious.

I too am outraged–I hesitate to say that because they love it when they anger us, but it is just pitiful to resort to out and out lies about this.
And it is a lie. I just got off the phone with Medical Relations. While they, of course, have fielded some calls relative to the minerals, they are isolated cases and there is no widespread problem at all. I asked very specific questions and did not receive a canned response–the responses were in direct relation to the question I asked.
I asked if any directors had called in with the symptoms described on PT. Answer, no. I asked if she would mind checking the records to make sure. I was placed on hold and then told that one director had called in with a customer problem of eye irritation and they deduced it was relative to a coloring agent and not the minerals themselves that caused the problem. As we all know, coloring agents are the prime cause of irritation with an eye shadow. Other director-related issues were along the same lines but the representative I spoke with said that there just had not been that many reports of problems since the rollout of the mineral eye shadows that were not outside of normal issues.
So…..feel free to call this a “rumor” but it’s a baldfaced lie in my book.

This is why I started reading here, and dumped PT. I started reading there right after I signed my MK contract. I love the product but didn’t want to get caught up in the fog. I thought PT ,and a couple of other places, would keep me grounded. All they did was show me how bitter and mean-spirited some people can be.
This is my third home based business. I run a home daycare and I make cloth baby carriers. One thing I’ve learned is that you really DO “have to spend money to make money”. It takes more than 6 months to start making a profit in most start-up businesses. Heck, sometimes it takes a few years!
I don’t know why the PTers didn’t end up making money. I have my thoughts on that, but I’ll be nice… At any rate, they have a right to their feelings, but SHISH, why try to drag everyone else down for what they couldn’t achieve? They need to grow up and move on. Life is to full of career posiblities to stay stuck in the failures.
I’m so glad I deleted PT from my computer. I’ll stay here if y’all don’t mind. It’s much nicer and way more balanced.

Kim, of course you can and welcome!
You are right on the money with your comments about PT. Even if they must dwell on their individuals pasts ad nauseum, why must they lie about other things? If they must wallow, I saw let them, but don’t lie and start rumors.
I find it interesting that so many on PT have bought and used the minerals and now complain about them. Aren’t these the same people who not so long ago swore off anything MK and cast their votes for other products?
Do you make the cloth sling-like baby carriers? I love those! There was nothing like that around when I had my babies, but I know several young mothers that have them now. They look so comfortable for both mom and baby.

Do you have a website for the baby carriers? I have three gifts I need coming down the pike. I’d love to support another home based venture. Can kim post more information here?

I don’t have the time to start another topic but I wanted to point this out. I was away all day yesterday and am just now catching up. I saw Friday’s topic on PT and it is supposedly written by a former “NSD to be” who also claims to be a Miss Go Give.
She must be Raisin-Stupid-Berry’s sister. She goes on and on about how she left it all and things were so terrible and she did this and that and it was wrong but now, of course, she is a saint because she pointed it out to everyone.
She is commended in every comment for her bravery, her ethics, told she is wonderful, and blah blah. Yet all these supposedly intelligent women who tell the world about what victims they were missed a very important line in old jta’s writings/ramblings. Here it is:
“And you continue the wrong every time you do something dishonest, allowing the fake orders and the fake people to this day. I know because I can see it in your reports”
THIS WOMAN IS TILL A DIRECTOR PEOPLE. Note the last line.
Still think she is a freaking saint? She’s “pulling” a check every month from the backs of the people she set up to fail.

Do you ever want to ask those women, “who raised you?” Seriously. They act as though MK made them lose their morals. Hello, PTer’s, didn’t your mama teach you right from wrong? Even if, and I think that’s a big if, other directors encourage cheating, why would you want to follow that path?
Maybe I’m too much of a black and white kind of girl. If something seems wrong, then it probably is. In my book, especially when it comes to screwing people over, there is NO shade of gray. When something is wrong, you just DON’T do it. Period. “But everyone else is doing it”, really doesn’t wash with me.
